Hopefully all it takes is community servers to be good, but a console release could be interesting, just wont catch me playing cross play if there is an option to disable it. I think back to Battlefield 2 days when everyone would use comms, commander and map marking enemies for each other and it was basically how Squad plays now (or did before it too got too big for its boots). To be fair all a game really needs to keep a quality community and teamwork is community run servers, AAA games dropped those years ago and the quality of gameplay suffered massively. I much prefer my 500-3000 player average mil sim and tactical shooters to something like battlefield or even HLL sometimes (though that seems to retain some level of teamwork on the community clan servers).
